Not sure what to say?

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sally and their loving family. Steve was an engaging educator with a passion for student learning. He was a skilled athlete who provided me many fond memories playing softball together. Steve will be truly missed by all those who had the opportunity to know and work with him. May God's peace be with him. Sincerely, Bob

Mr. Ettles was my homeroom teacher in 6th grade and P/E teacher in 7th and 8th grade at Barry School. He was always cool and laid back, but at the same time encouraging. He had a great sense of humor and was a person you could joke around with. He was respected by all. I'll never forget he would always pass out Tootsie Roll candies every Friday on our way out the door and say "Get outta here" My condolences to his family.

Our Deepest condolences and sympathy on Steve's passing. The Dave Duckett Family.

Sally: Steve was without question the best male athlete in our RBUHS 1964 class. His natural abilities and unselfish nature still resonate. I will never forget how fluid and graceful he moved, regardless of the athletic event, but especially football and basketball. The tributes from his former students and friends confirm his true character and hopefully provide some comfort to you. Denny

Mrs. Ettles, I was a small in stature sophomore at Ychs in 1972 and an unproven baseball player when I tried out for the JV baseball team in I think Coach Ettles first year there! I ended up making the team as coach´s utility infielder! He kept me on the team to fill in at 2nd base for the games that either Junior Garcia pitched or Kenny Gooch pitched! Coach gave me my sense of worth with his coaching style and knowledge of the game of baseball and I credit him for my long lasting fondness of...

Sally, I am so sorry to hear about Steve´s passing. I have such vivid memories of your lovely relationship starting in high school. Even though I have not seen you in years you both have been in my thoughts through out that time. May the Holy Spirit wrap you in love and caring for now and always. Fondly, Lynn

Mr. Ettles was an amazing influence on my life. I was a very small human but always wanted to impress him because he believed in me. He called me Mighty Mouse and I´ve taken that on through many years of my life. I loved him as a teacher and his "small" words meant more than anything. My thoughts are with you all who have been touched by such an amazing person.

Steve was a valued member of the Barry School upper grade teaching staff (dubbed "BUGS") for all of my years teaching there. He was friendly, cheerful, calm and dependable, a great snow-trip co-leader, loved by colleagues and students. He took me on an unforgettable plane ride over the Buttes, and unfailingly brought "Sally Cookies" to our annual year-end student excursion to the Forebay. My heartfelt condolences to you, Sally.
