CLOSED-Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home Obituary

Steven F. Fischer of Varun Lane and formerly of Russell Rd., Hurley, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital following a long and courageous battle with scleroderma. He was 44. He was born in Kingston, a son of Francis and Josephine Christoforo Fischer. Mr. Fischer was a graduate of John A. Coleman Catholic High School, Class of '84 and received his bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from St. Bonaventure Univ. in Olean, NY. For 19 years, he was employed by the Town of Ulster as Fiscal Manager of Bridges and Highways. He was a former manager of the Town of Ulster Softball League and played in the league as well. He was a certified umpire for the Town of Ulster and was a Mets and Rangers fan. He was MVP in baseball for Coleman H.S. and played Div. 1 baseball for St. Bonaventure Univ. He was part of Coleman H.S. basketball team that went to the MHAL State Championship. Surviving in addition to his parents of Hurley is his beloved wife Alison Perry Fischer whom he married on March 30, 2003. Also surviving is his son, Steven C. Fischer, at home, his brother, Paul Fischer of Catskill, his sister, Nadine Hoffstatter and her husband Alan Berinato of Saugerties. Also surviving are his special nephews, Zachary, Aaron and Jeremy Hoffstatter and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His sister, Debra Fischer died previously. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Friday from 2-4 & 7- 9 PM. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and process to St. Mary's Church, Kingston for a 10;00 AM funeral Mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. I was glad to have seen him at Mike's birthday party a couple of summers ago and I have kept your family in my prayers since that day.
