Steve was my fellow Drewid, my buddy and music enthusiast in Vienna, moral support during German Lit comps, the guy who brought Dutch beer to our dorm parties at Drew, my much-loved replacement as the German teacher at Bernardsville, HS....a sensitive, humorous, tolerant, lovely guy. I thought I had written a message in 2011. So regret it never transported to his wife and family. I've thought of Steve often over the years and remember him with love and respect.

Steven was one of my room mates when we attended school in Vienna. A wonderful person and friend (and musician). We had many fine times together and I often remember him fondly. Steven and I met again, by. chance, when taking classes at Georgetown. He is missed.

I studied with Steven in Vienna and later, by absolute chance, we had the same class at Georgetown. Steven and I had many adventures together including a wonderful two week Christmas vacation in Rome. Steve, who was a "real" guitar player, often accompanied me when I would go out and perform with my guitar. If I can find them, I'd be happy to share my photos of Steve from Vienna with his family.

My deepest condolences to Steve's family and close ones. This is a great loss of a gentle and loving spirit. Steve played a formative role in my life. He was a dear mentor: he inspired and encouraged me through my studies in German language in high school in the late 1970s. My love for the language and German art history led to a BA in German, and later an MA, which I utilized in museum and translation work. His supportive guidance, supreme love of music and photography, and his intellect...

To The Freeman Family,
Our world is made up of beautiful music. The whispers of the wind, the sound of the ocean, the rain and any thing that makes sound. Freeman heard these sounds and put them into music how genius of him.
Focus on the beautiful things Steven did in his lifetime.
