Not sure what to say?

Steven was two years younger than my brother, Bill Hess. The last time I saw Steven was at his mother's funeral service. Her name and mine were the same except for our middle initials--hers, "C," and mine, "L." We: Steven, Rick, and, I believe, Kathy and Carrie had a group photo taken in front of Kathy and Joe's home in Lake Oswego. We were always going to get together when my brother came from Bend to visit me in Portland, but time was always fleeting, so our get-together never...

To say I am shocked is an understatement. I just came across this, yesterday, and I was slightly devastated. I knew Steve, a long time ago (I met all of you, Rick, Kathy, Carrie and Fred, at a Thanksgiving at your mom's house, back in the early 80s, I believe). I just can't even process his death. Just so sad. I'm so sorry for your entire family, including Jennifer, and I hope he did not suffer too much.

Fred,
Sorry for the loss of your brother. I would love to see you. Please call 503-632-3810

I hope Steve passed gracefully and without pain. I was not told of his illness, nor of his passing. I am Jennifer Lynn's half- sister Valerie. Steve was married to our mother Leslie Hess. Many of weekends steve would pick Jennifer lynn and I up and take us out to lunch. We always had so much fun! From the time I was born he always remembered me. Steve would give me money as a Christmas gift and mom would always remind me to call him and thank him. I wish I could have told him how much he...

I worked with Steve for several years. He was a good man and a very hard worker. Our friendship extended beyond work and I will miss him.

Steve and Robert

I knew Steve from Lake Grove Grade School all the way through high school. He was a nice kid that grew into a very nice young man. He had a manner that always seemed calm and patient. He seemed to accept people as they were. I had not seen Steve for awhile and I think it was our 30th? class reunion when I personally announced I felt he should receive the "most dashing" award. After that, whenever I saw Steve he would give me a grin and kind of a look of almost a wink wink!
I...

Many of those attending Steve's memorial, were classmates of Steve from Lake Oswego High School Class of 1961. A number of us attending had known Steve through elementary school at Lake Grove Elementary and were neighbors growing up. Steve was involved in organizing many of our class reunions and we always looked forward to time spent with Steve. My husband Gordon felt especially close to Steve as Gordon's brother Robert Ernst (deceased) and Steve were friends and served together in the...
