Steven J. Fitzmorris'' mother smiled thinking about her son''s ego. He was complex and multidimensional, she said, and was different things to different people. "If 15 people were asked to describe him, they would give you 15 different adjectives," said Rosemarie Fitzmorris-Currier. "He was just Steve." Fitzmorris, 26, of Columbia, Mo., was killed Aug. 25 in Adhamiyah by small-arms fire. He was assigned to Fort Carson. Born in Natick, Mass., and raised in Alabama, Fitzmorris moved to Columbia, where he was living with his wife, Samantha, 22, and had a 3-year-old son Joshua and 2-year-old daughter Mykenzee. An impulse drove him to sell magazine subscriptions door to door, traveling by bus and seeing the country. "He could sell ice to an Eskimo and make Ebenezer Scrooge laugh," said his sister, Michaela. To his friends and to his family, Fitzmorris was loyal. If someone needed him, he would find a way to be there, his mother said. And the loyalty was mutual. "If you were a friend of his, you would go to the end of the world for him," she said. Said his mother, "Even when he was mad, his eyes would be smiling at you."
In memory and honor of Steven Fitzmorris. We shall forever be grateful for his service.

Steven, soon it will be a year that you will have left God's earth for higher ground. The death of a child is something you never get over so please let your parents know that you are now ok. God has a way of giving us signs when we're still and I pray that God has allowed those signs to come to your parents and family. As a Gold Star Mother I know the pain of the death of a child. I also know that it's not the death we remember but the life you lived and loved. May that life be celebrated...

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Fitzmorris family. I would just like to tell you, that today Steven was remembered. I live in Il and each year the IL Motorcycle Association rededicates the Middle East Conflict Memorial Wall while we once again add names to the wall. This ride is known as the Freedom Run. This year my husband was honored to ride with Steven. If you go to www.ILFreedomrun.org you can see all the information on it. Each rider is given a dog tag of a fallen solider,...
