CEDAR — Steve Carl Krellwitz, 50, of Cedar, was taken from us suddenly on Tuesday, May 8, 2007.

Steve was born on Jan. 1, 1957, in Hancock, to Arthur and Dolores Krellwitz. He grew up in Warren but his heart was in the Upper Peninsula.

Steve went to college at Michigan Tech and became an engineer. While attending College he met Bev Killman, and they were married on Sept. 21, 1985, in Traverse City.

Steve shared his joy of hunting and fishing with his son and his friends. He also enjoyed boating, water skiing and tubing on the lake with his kids and all of their friends.

He formed special bonds with his friends and family, and he was well respected. He had a personality that befriended almost everyone. Steve was devoted to spending time with his son, Cody, and daughter, Jennifer; he was a wonderful father and a true role model for his two children.

Steve was employed as an engineer at Great Lakes Carbon Treatment Inc. of Kalkaska. He will be sincerely missed by all of his co-workers and the friends he made through work.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Killman; his children, Cody and Jennifer; father, Arthur Krellwitz of Christmas; his two sisters, Christine (Kevin) Lopez of Traverse City and Catherine Krellwitz of Warren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Katherine (David) Handke of Wisconsin and Laura Killman of Copemish; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Michelle Handke, Melissa and Sara Killman, Justin, Danielle, and Dylan Lopez, of Traverse City; and his best friend, Todd McCorkle of Traverse City.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores; his grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Forrest Killman.

Visitation for Steve will take place on Monday, May 14, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City, at 2 p.m. The Pastor Robert Zagore will be officiating the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Diabetes Association of Michigan.

The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City; www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.
