Steve and I were best friends. We were Boy Scouts in Troop 17 at Griffiss Air Force Base in RomeHe graduated from RFA in 1961. I graduated in 62. He was a good guy and a good friend. I was just thinking about all the people from my past and today I thought about him. He was a good guy, smart and a lot of fun. So sorry for your loss. Bob Versace

I have known Steve since elementary school in Rome, NY. We graduated from high school (RFA) in 1961. For 62 years we have kept in close touch. With the exception of my own family, Steve has been my best friend over the years. I have written more emails back and forth to Steve during the last 30 years than with anyone else, again excepting my own family. Luckily, my wife and I had a long lunch with Steve and Paige in Syracuse last August, as we were on our way to New Hampshire. I even...

Mr.Lutwin- always photo-documenting moments with students, teaching with an upbeat and skilled demeanor that gave tremendous results, and supportive to all beyond the time in his presence. I utilize the math skills that he imparted, every day. I can reflect to a childhood at Shea and Corcoran where I felt uplifted and valued at school, in great part due to him. All students knew he was a great dad and husband- someone to try to emulate. My condolences to his family and those whose lives he...

Then one day, I was gratified to learn that he had joined our faculty at Corcoran High School. Steve had a wonderful sense of humor, an ingratiating personality, and an empathy that we should all aspire to match. Not mentioned in the notes describing his life is the fact that he was the glue that held together a group of retired faculty...
