I've just learned of Steve's passing. He and I knew each other while he was working on his doctorate at Minnesota. I was just reading one of his last papers and thinking to myself what a brilliant approach it was, and then I found out this bad news.
He was a brilliant, brilliant man and I know his family meant everything to him. I'm very sorry for your loss.
