Not sure what to say?

Ranger Steve was Simply the Best. We have always been Lepidoptera aficionados and he took us to the next level. We did butterfly counts with him in Bryce Canyon ! It was incredible ! Bless him ! Love, the Wieland Family

I just learned about Steve's passing to even a better place. I also just started on my journey with the same cancer. I enjoyed his articles in the Caller. I was glad he visited the bird festival in East Tawas where he met my wife. I really shared with Steve many nature outings when I was with the GR Audubon Club before I moved to Harrisville. Blessings to all his family. Frank Apsey.

Saddened over Steve's passing, but at peace now, whenever I see a butterfly I will feel his presence. Being Steve's co-compilers of Christmas Bird Count of the Grand Rapids Audubon Club his support and presence will be missed. It will be an honor to lead the CBC, and respect and honor him always as I do.

May the choir Of angels lead you into paradise. God bless you for all your fabulous work.

What a privilege to know your family...from caring for the girls at our home, Karen at school, and Steve inspiration on his Caring page, and of course his love of Gods creation.

While I did not know Ranger Steve personally I always enjoyed his articles in the Squire and in the Audubon Caller. It was of the special things I always went to first. I will miss his sharing of knowledge. The world has lost a wonderful person and we were so blessed to have him share with us for this long. Blessing and sympathy to the family.

We felt privileged to have known Steve these many years. He was a hero to our family and taught us to appreciate life and nature in many ways.

We are saddened to learn of Ranger Steve's passing. He provided so much nature expertise to the Grand Rapids Audubon Club throughout the years. He regularly gave incredibly informative programs, and members eagerly read his "Ranger Steve's Nature Niche" in our Caller Newsletter. It was a joy to visit the Ody Brook Nature Preserve. Steve will be greatly missed.
