Byles Memorial Home - New London Obituary

Steven J. Mugavero, 58, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020. He was born in Buckhannon, WV on December 11, 1961 to James and Stacel (Nutter) Mugavero. He grew up in Waterford, CT and graduated from Waterford High School in 1979.
Steve will be remembered for his comedic nature. Using his quick wit and delivery, he transformed ordinary situations into very laughable moments. That will be missed so much at family gatherings. Steve had an early love of music. “Street Legal” and other bands were formed right in the family basement with many days and nights spent practicing there. He was lead singer in all of his bands which is where someone with his “big” personality belonged. Without hesitation Steve would tell you that the best part of his life was having his son Zane. Zane was the light of Steve’s life. They spent many Sundays together watching their beloved New York Giants. It was one of their favorite past times. Steve, like many of us, was no angel but his heart was always in the right place. He has now found his peace and can rest comfortably. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sons, Nicholas and Zane Mugavero; siblings, Frederick (Sue) Mugavero, William Mugavero, James Mugavero, and his “baby” sister, Jeanne (Tony) Deus; and many nieces and nephews.
Byles Memorial Home is assisting the family with the arrangements which are pending. Donations in Steve’s memory may be made to The Cactus Jack Foundation, PO Box 145, Waterford, CT 06385. www.cactusjackfoundation.org.

Not sure what to say?

Just came across Steve's obit in a Google search for "Street Legal" and am so saddened. Enjoyed many Street Legal shows at the Brick n Wood in New Haven and was fortunate to get to know Steve. He was so fun and funny. Many fond memories. I know that my life was better having had him in it - for instance, I would have never heard of ICE-T if it weren't for Steve. Condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to read this news. My heart goes out to Stevie’s family. I represented Stevie for years and he would come to visit often and if his hair wasn’t perfect he would call instead. We would talk for hours. His two favorite subjects - his boys and his days in the band. RIP Stevie J. You are now at peace!

My prayers go out to the entire Mugavero Family and so sad to hear of Steve's passing. May he R.I.P

So sad and sorry to hear about Steve's passing. It's been a long time but I'll always remember his infectious laugh and fun personality. Always enjoyed seeing his bands. My deepest condolences to his entire family.

To the Mugavero Family.
Highway summer days, Steve Scott and I, aka, the Celtics of Patch, making up song parodies of the job while we worked, the Red Rocker, and Street Legal gigs that we went to see at the El 'N' Gee. Steve's humor and manner made it a genuine pleasure to have worked with him, as well as to see him out and about. I am sad at Steve's passing, he was a true gentleman.

My deepest sympathies to the Mugavero family.

I gonna miss you so much buddy love always Curt Warner
