CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

STEVEN J. OAKS

Steven Jon Oaks, beloved father, husband & friend, passed away peacefully on Feb 27, 2019, at his home on Mercer Island, WA, after a year-long battle with Ewing Sarcoma. He was surrounded by those he loved most in this world, his children, Abigail Grace Oaks, Madeleine McGuire Oaks & William Riley Oaks and his spouse of 30 years, Christine D. Oaks.

He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, William F. Oaks & Alice M. Oaks. He is survived by dear sister, Elizabeth A. Oaks Siedhoff (Thomas Siedhoff); brother-in-law, Michael T. Kapps; nieces, Katherine Rudersdorf (Andrew) and Sarah Albrecht (Michael), Emma Fritz-Kapps; nephew Michael Fritz-Kapps; and adored grand-niece, Madison Rudersdorf; and grand-nephew, Benjamin Albrecht.

Steve was a Midwesterner, born and raised in Wichita, KS. He studied at Creighton University earning a BS, 1986 & JD, 1989. He also earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern Univ. in 1999. His career in Tax and Private Wealth Mgmt included affiliations with Arthur Andersen-Mpls, Price-Waterhouse-Chicago, US Bank, Quellos, Blackrock & UBS.

His connection and commitment to clients was very personal to Steve and he leaves many good friends among his client group.

He was an enthusiastic golfer at both Sahalee C.C. where he served as Board VP Finance & Club President and at Overlake C.C. A 14 year resident of Seattle, preceded by 7 years in Glenview (Chicago) IL, he leaves scores of friends near and far who will remember his energy, sense of humor, love of travel & unique ability to transform any routine social gathering into a memorable event. His greatest love and devotion was always his children and family and his loss is deeply felt by those to whose care and security he was always so thoroughly committed.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Elizabeth Loggers, the staff of SCCA, particularly Sydne Gomez and Erin Shade, for their devoted medical care over the past year along with the many oncology nurses at UWMC who were truly angels of mercy in delivering care to him and the family during his many admissions.

Not sure what to say?

Sending my love and condolences. For most of my life, I had one person who I could trust completely. One person who I knew would always know what to do, and would always do the right thing. When he passed away, I was comforted by the fact that Steve was there. I could trust him as completely as I could trust my father, which really says and means something.

Steve was a most amazing man. So kind and funny and warm. I'll miss his sparkle and humor.

With love,
Amanda B.

On-behalf of the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship Team, please accept our heart-filled condolences on the loss of Mr. Oaks.

We cherish our time spent with Steve and are thankful for the warm embrace he orchestrated for us at Sahalee. He was a great leader, philanthropist and friend.

His passion and friendship was fully seen at our final Executive Committee Meeting during Steve's toast. He fought back a few tears as he realized the double-wide in the South Lot would soon be...

THINKING BACK ON STEVE'S INITIATION INTO THE STEIDLER FAMILY, HE MUST HAVE THOUGHT CHRIS'S AUNTS WERE ALL CRAZY. WELL AT LEAST TWO OF US! I KNEW THAT NIGHT THAT CHRIS HAD FOUND HERSELF A MAN WHO LOVED LIFE AND KNEW HOW TO LIVE IT. WHAT A CHARISMATIC YOUNG MAN HE WAS. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ANYONE WHO KNEW AND LOVED HIM. WE ARE THINKING ABOUT YOU, CHRIS AMD FAMILY. MUCH LOVE.

Heartfelt Condolences Arrangement- BASKET INCLUDED

My condolences to the Oaks family. Steve's warmth, humor, wit and kindness was truly a gift to the world. I relied on his brilliance and advice on a regular basis and will certainly miss him. Although I never had the privilege to meet his family, I knew his family from the proud stories he would share. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

Grant and I had just barely met Steve, but immediately loved his infectious laugh and great sense of humor, and trusted him completely. We are deeply saddened by his passing, and send our condolences and prayers of strength and love to his family.

My condolences and prayers are with the Oaks family. I am so sorry for your terrible loss. Although I did not know Steve for very long, he was one of my all time favorite people. He lit up any room with his humor, warmth and laugh. When I needed a financial advisor, my aunt Susan told me she would trust him with her life. That is Steve Oaks - the person you trust with your life. He will be missed by so many.
