Steven Keith Rice, 42, a forklift operator, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2003, at a local hospital.

Funeral: noon Thursday in the sanctuary of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, 5020 Ramey Ave., the Rev. Iona Smith and the Rev. Mason G. Rice Jr., eulogists. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at historic Baker Funeral Home, 301 E. Rosedale St. Wake: 7 p.m. at the church.

Steve was the youngest of four children born to Mason George Sr. and Effie King Rice. He attended public schools in the Fort Worth ISD, graduating from Paul L. Dunbar High School in 1978. Steve united with St. James A.M.E. at a young age. He was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Survivors: He leaves to mourn his parents, Mason and Effie Rice Sr.; his children, Jacoby L. Rice of Arlington, Shavar Rice, Jamaal Rice and Teah Rice of Fort Worth; siblings, Iona R. Smith (Rubby Lee) and Mason G. Rice Jr. (Zetta) of Fort Worth and Karen Milstead (Michael) of Houston; his former wife, Zina Rice; godson, DeJohn Pippens; two nieces; four nephews; six great- nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Cardelia and CoCo Lewis; and a host of other family members and friends.
