Steven Lee Salisbury "Sals", age 65, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 23, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa to Glenn and Shirley (nee Baker) Salisbury. Steve graduated from Hobart High School in 1969. He was a retired UPS truck driver, an avid golfer, a member of Duck Creek Country Club and ran the Tuesday night golf league. He also coached Hobart Girls Softball and was past President of Hobart Southlake Optimist Club. Steve will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Steve is survived by his wife, Margaret Salisbury of Hobart; two daughters, Joni (Matthew) Troy of La Porte and Kellie (Vince) Goodwin of Hobart; grandchildren, Tim and Carlie Goodwin and Maggie and Josie Troy; mother, Shirley E. Salisbury of Hobart; brother, Marty (Linda) Salisbury of Texas, and many other loving family members and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Avenue, Munster, IN 46321 are preferred.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342, with Pastor Steven Campbell officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 2:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
