Not sure what to say?

Rest assured that Steve's memory lives on in all of us who knew him. Because my last name began with R and his S, we were consistently put together; seated in class near each other, lockers next to each other for 7 years. He became a good friend. I learned to water ski with him, Adam Toll and Tim White. We all went sledding together at Manhattan School Hill. As a group we, had parties together. When it looked like I might not go to prom senior year with a date, I convinced Steve to go with...

Memory Eternal, Steve! I am so sorry that Steve is no longer walking among us. He was a good friend during High School and college years. He holds a special place in my memories.

Steve was someone I always remember as smiling. We lived in the same neighborhood as children and later on, when teens will be teens, I still always saw Steve sharing kindness and laughter with our classmates. I am so sorry that he didn't have more time with his family here on earth, because he was one of the good ones and we surely need more men like that these days. Praying for the family and all who loved him.

May his memory be eternal.

Thoughts and prayers to the entire Saltsman family. Another great man and great family man taken away way to early by the cruelest of foes. Steve was such a wonderful soul and that mischevous giggling laugh/smile, I remember, was so great and brought an immediate smile to my face and I'm sure to so many more over his life. RIP Steve. Cherished friend; respected human; devoted father & husband; inspirational Christian; talented person; promoted to guardian angel far too soon.

Steve and I met at Aquinas after finding out that our parents worked together at East Grand Rapids High School. We passed each other occasionally in the neighborhood and he even helped me one night when my car died. He was truly good man and true to all he came in contact with. I will miss him. I wish his family the best.

Steve and I worked at URS together for almost a decade, and I'm so grateful to have known him. Movie nights in the Greiner Diner w/ big 'ol speakers, his incredible CAD knowledge, and his most excellent humor, jokes, and smiles are all dear memories of him. God bless your whole family during this very challenging time, and may He offer peace and love to you in abundance during all your days ahead.

Steve and I attended Aquinas College together and spent four beautiful months in Ireland in a group. My fondest memory of Steve was when I returned for an Ireland reunion in Grand Rapids and we sat at the same table. He shared how he was married and had two beautiful kids. I was so happy for him. He always had a smile and I felt a sincere warmth of his character even though it had been many years. I am truly sorry for the loss of this great man, friend, alumni and I will pray for peace. ...
