Knew Steve since 7th grade, in 1956! A multi-talented man and a brilliant attorney. So sad at his passing. We shared years as Silver Spring residents.

On behalf of his colleagues during his time at MSUA in Ottawa we are truly disheartened. Steve was one of the most competitive people, be it Bridge, Pinball, Bowling, Jeopardy, or Up & Down the River. Regardless, he was always a lot of fun to be around.

If I remember this right, Steve, interviewing me for an OPTS special assistant position when he was on the Carter transition team. asked what I knew about pesticides (as opposed to toxics). I admitted, "Not much." He started to laugh & said "Me neither." I think it worked out OK. Mike Levin work

Just remembered I believe my office worked with Steve to reform the process for effluent guidelines controlling water discharges, so he was more than toxics and pesticides.... no excuse here for my lapse!!!

I remember Steve Schatzow from the early days at EPA, fearsome lion, roaring through the halls on behalf of his mission in the pesticides and toxics arena. I can imagine then the equally protective family man that he was and will always be in our memories of him.
