I remember him being a great teacher and a good friend to his students. It may have been years since I've attended one of his classes, but his lectures were always brilliant. News of his passing left me utterly stunned. I wish I could attend his memoriam, but several of my family will be. He inspired me to study politics and understand every side of an argument. It allowed me to take on new perspectives in my own writings, essays and articles. Mr. Schmelzer will always be remembered among us.
