Steven Senko

I was just remembering Mr. Senko from his days as manager of the Mindowaskin Swim Club in Mountainside NJ. He was one special guy and my memories of him are clear as day. Just taking this minute to say goodbye Mr. Senko. Last saw you 60 years ago.

Rest in Peace. We had the same name so I'm willing to believe this dude was pretty boss. He's gotta be awesome.

At age 73 I am past the point of keeping heroes in my mind or my heart . . . with one exception. Steve was, is and will always be my hero. He was a counselor and group leader at Camp Kee-Wah in the 1950’s. He was my when I was 15 in 1952, and my feelings about him started then. Ultimately, I worked as a counselor when he was a group leader. He taught me more about life, self-discipline, competition and fair play then I realized or could have imagined at the time. Steve was my baseball coach at Newark Rutgers from 1952 - 1956. He was always upbeat with a wonderful sense of humor. My wife and I always enjoyed reminiscing with him at Hall of Fame gatherings, and he will be sorely missed. Our sincere condolences to his lovely wife Joanne and family.

We will keep all of you in our prayes.

I will always remember Steve as a humble person, a professional in every sense of the word, and a great colleague with whom I worked from 1976-1985 at Rutgers Newark. He was quiet in the sense that he never bragged and it was only more recently that I learned of his numerous accomplishments in the world of sports.He was very efficient but always kept us smiling, what a great sense of humor which is sorely missed in today's humorless world. I was fortunate to have been on Coach Senko's 63-64 basketball team (far down the end of the bench). After practice he would drop me off in Hillside on his way home. He was such a caring person and a real good guy. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

We always enjoyed steve and his humor at Lions functions, board meetings and functions at the Music center. We are saddened at the news. Bob & Peg Beauregard from Dallas Texas.
