One of my many memories with Steve was my frustration on how I was going to talk about the war in Ukraine. Steve first told me to share where both countries were on a map. Then he explained that each country has specific import and exports and to look into their economy. Brake down who the people are and about the money that is funding this war. Steve told me that it will be a long war but, he was intrigued by the actions of the other countries. Steve helped me decipher what was useless...

Steve was very kind to me back in 1989 when he made me his preference for hiring at the DOJ Tax Division. They placed me in a different geographical Section, however, so it did not appear that he stole me from the Miami IRS Counsel's office -- they gave me a raise instead. We always remained friends and colleagues. He will be missed.
