Steven Shapiro

My condolences to the family. I met Steve in the 70s when he moved to Southern Oregon from Chicago. Steve, a true Renaissance man., was unique to my Southern Oregon reality. I once told him that he was the smartest man I know. Steve just smiled. Steve intellect was acute and accurate with an incredible onboard BS detector. It was my honor to be his dentist and his friend. Rest in peace my friend.

Steve was almost a lifelong friend - he was my older brother's best friend for years, starting in high school. I have such great memories of him as a person with great character, a great sense of humor, and a willing participant in any fun thing. I'll never forget the time he had an idea of a "system" for beating the casinos in Las Vegas, and he and my brother drove out there with about $500. I think it took him about 30 minutes to lose it all, never thinking that his system wouldn't work....
