Steven H. Steiner, 55 Chief Financial Officer, Community Leader Loving Family Man

Steven H. Steiner, 55, of Village Way, North Attleboro, died on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Stephanie K. (Kominiarek) Steiner to whom he was married on September 14, 1985.

Born in Tarrytown, New York on May 22, 1955, he was a son of Leo H. Steiner of Wilton, Connecticut and the late Lucie (Ochem) Steiner. He was a 1973 graduate of the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York.

Mr. Steiner was a 1977 graduate of the former Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim, New Hampshire and earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire in 1981.

Mr. Steiner was currently employed as the Chief Financial Officer for the Potpourri Group, Inc. in Chelmsford, a position held for the past 14 years.

Previously, he was employed as a director for Coopers & Lybrand in Boston from 1981 – 1996.

A resident of North Attleboro since 1986, Mr. Steiner previously resided in Watertown and Goffstown, New Hampshire. Since 1998, he and his family enjoyed times spent at their home in Chatham where he was able to enjoy the Cape Cod beaches and coastline.

He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in the Attleboro Falls neighborhood of North Attleboro.

An active member of the community, Mr. Steiner was a member of the Board of Trustees and treasurer of the Foxboro Regional Charter School since the school’s inception 12 years ago. He was a former member of the Board of Governors and was the former treasurer for many years of the Abbott Run Valley Club in North Attleboro. He and his family are longtime supporters of Hockomock Area YMCA through their affiliation with the North Attleboro branch.

Although a successful professional and community leader, he will be most lovingly remembered for the love for his family and being a wonderful husband and father.

The Steiner family has many wonderful lifelong memories of the times spent traveling to Europe, the Caribbean and locations throughout the United States.

Mr. Steiner was a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan.

In addition to his wife of almost 25 years and his father, he leaves four daughters: Elise N. Steiner, Allison K. Steiner, Caroline M. Steiner and Nicole M. Steiner all of North Attleboro; two sisters: Elizabeth A. DeGaetani and her husband, Richard DeGaetani, of Yorktown Heights, New York and Lorraine J. Larkin and her husband, Thomas Larkin, of Wilton, Connecticut; a brother: Henry J. Steiner, husband of the late Judith R. Steiner, of Sleepy Hollow, New York; his brother-in-law and best friend: Stephen J. Kominiarek and his wife, Sharon (Sullivan) Kominiarek, of North Attleboro; several nieces and nephews, extended family members, colleagues and friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Children’s room available during visitation. Those in need of a local ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, 105 Stanley Street (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, turn right onto Stanley Street in ½ mile and travel to end of Stanley Street), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Thomas A. Frechette, Pastor, officiating.

There will be no funeral cortege from the funeral home prior to the commencement of church services.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro.

Please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
