Steven Lloyd Webb was born on Monday, May 6, 1963, at Herrick Hospital in Berkeley, CA, to the proud parents of George C. Webb and Loretta L. Webb. Steven was the second child born into this family.
The Webb Family moved from Oakland, CA to Richmond, CA, in 1968, where Steven began kindergarten at Stege Elementary School.
When the Family moved to Hayward, CA, in 1972, Steven began 4th Grade at Highland Elementary School there. In the 5th and 6th Grades, Steven was the Neighborhood Paperboy for the Hayward Daily Review newspaper, where he had the responsibility to "throw the paper" every day after school. Steven played Little League baseball during the summers, and learned how to do household electrical installations at a young age by travelling with his Electrician father on many projects. And beginning at age 12, Steven volunteered every Summer as a Latchkey counselor with the Hayward Area Recreational District (H.A.R.D.) five days per week.
Steven went on to Bret Harte Jr. High School in Hayward where he learned to play the Alto Saxophone. Upon entering Hayward High School, Steven joined the school Marching Band, playing his saxophone at football games and other events. Steven also enjoyed Gymnastics class, performing stunts on the trampoline with ease.
Steven's parents divorced at the start of his junior year in high school. Steven commuted to Hayward High School from Oakland each morning for two years, and Steven graduated from Hayward High School in 1981.
Steven also was very active in church. He attended and was baptized at the North Oakland Missionary Baptist Church, where many of his great-aunts and great-uncles from both sides of his family had joined having migrated to California during WWII. Steven played the saxophone in his church's, "CTU Ensemble" band, alongside a tenor saxophonist (Marquis), and trumpeter (Claude), and a backing vocal chorus. This group, under the guidance of the Pastor's Wife, Mrs. Daisy Murray, would perform at the church regularly, as well as at other prominent events such as the California Baptist State-Wide Youth Convention.
The church was very important to Steven, as many of his enjoyable social activities came during the events such as the annual Oakland City-Wide Revival with its Youth-A-Rama Mass Choir, where Steve sang every year during its first 7 years alongside teenagers from churches all across Oakland. Steven made friends very, very easily. :-)
While in high school, Steven had the honor of being an Escort in the renowned Links Cotillion of Oakland. He was proud to be in the rehearsals and honored the responsibilities expected of the young Debutantes and Escorts...his Mother, Loretta, was once a Debutante in the Links Cotillion, herself. Steven was very proud to keep the tradition.
Steven had a genuine fascination with real estate, and he would gather as much information about it that he could find. In February 1989, he bought his first house in Firebaugh, CA, along with his brother.
Wanting to make real estate his career, Steven left his job as a 411 Operator at Pacific Bell and went to college full-time. Steven graduated from Fresno City College (on schedule!), and then transferred to Fresno State University where he later graduated with a B.A. in Business.
Steven got married and started a family in Clovis, CA. From this marriage Steven had three sons: Trenton, Travin, and Tahj.
Steven worked in real estate for a number of years after his University graduation. His health and well-being began to show signs of trouble. Finding himself separated from his marriage, he was brought back to the Bay Area in 2006 to receive medical treatment.
Steven's health improved, but he never made a full recovery. As the years went on, Steven's health began to decline with periodic hospital stays becoming a routine in his life.
Steven was able to live independently until a severe medical emergency occurred in May 2015. The treatment and hospitalization that resulted went on for many months, and a decision was made in January 2016 to bring Steven to a rehabilitation care facility for round-the-clock observation and care. Steven treated the medical staff well, and he was very enthusiastic in reaching his therapy conditioning goals.
Sometimes he would get down on himself, especially his having to miss watching and supporting his children's sporting events and activities. But Steven always looked forward to the day when he would be healthy enough to travel to be with his children, and he worked very, very hard each day to make that day come true.
Steven was so proud of his sons, and he endured so that they might grow up to be good men themselves.
Steven is pre-deceased by his Father, George C. Webb, and his Mother, Loretta L. Webb.
Steven is survived by his loved ones: his three sons Trenton Webb, Travin Webb, and Tahj Webb, brother George "Kenny" Webb, aunt Mary Jackson of Richmond, aunt and uncle Joyce & David Davis of Riverside, CA, aunt and uncle Cynthia & Charles Jackson of Brighton, CO, aunt Lisa Jackson of Brighton, CO, great-cousins Chris Sampson of Atlanta, GA, and Gloria Sampson of Rio Vista, CA, cousins Elgin Jackson of Richmond, CA, Jasmine Jackson of Charlotte, NC, cousin Tasha Jackson of Brighton, CO, cousins Sabrina Sampson and Natasha Sampson of Baltimore, MD, cousin Raymonda Fullard of Oakland, CA, cousins Eric Davis, NeShawna Davis, and Wendell Davis of Riverside, CA, cousins Donnie & Connie Robinson of Moorpark, CA, cousins Allan and Arlene Robinson of Hempstead, TX, Drs.
