Steven Wheeler

Worked with Steve in local government for years in the Portland area. My lasting memory of Steve is a consummate professional, smart, caring, funny and diplomatic. Our mutual profession is better for his immense contribution. My sincere condolences to all.

I knew Steve through his work in Tualatin and Clackamas County. His was a great person to work with. My condolences to his family and to his wife Nancy.

I knew Steve through our time at Clackamas County when I was serving as Finance Director. We had several great years working together on the County's budgets, operations and expansion of the County campus. He was an easygoing leader, a straight talker and a supportive boss. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. My sympathies to his family, and especially to Nancy.

Steve was as good a friend as anyone can have. We met running cross country in HS. 58 years of friendship and one of my very closest friends. His thoughts and caring were helpful in some difficult emotional times. Steve was very proud of his family. Just 4 days before his passing he sent me photos of Tucker, now involved in track. I will miss Steve forever. My heart goes out to the Wheeler family.

Ran with/ behind Steve at Duke. He was a great runner but more importantly, a great man. My condolences to Nancy and the family. Remember the good times!
