My niece was in the academy at the same time Steven was, but in a different cadet class. She was in class on the day he passed away and was traumatized when she told me about it. Every effort was made to help him but unfortunately their efforts failed. I pray for Steven and his family daily. I pray God brings you peace and comfort.

Coach Whitfield has left a legacy in my family that will never be forgotten. He led, mentored and showed a unique passion for my childrens success and future.

He coached both of my sons in basketball and supported my daughter as she attempted Crossfit, as her Health teacher. He invested countless, late nights during the basketball season doing the laundry and chores for the basketball team. He was also instrumental in the decision for my oldest son to attend Texas A&M.

At first glance, you would never see what a big heart he had, how hard he worked and how much he cared. In my family, he will always be thought of fondly and missed greatly.

Coach Whitfield was my son's coach at Magnolia High School. He was an outstanding person, with a heart of gold. My son is physically and mentally stronger because of him. He was such a role model to all the kids around him, they loved him. He left us way too early and with so much more to do but in his 32 years he has influenced and touched so many lives. Prayers for his family, specially his girlfriend whom he lit up every time he talked about her and their trips together.
