I remember our milk being delivered to our metal milk box on our front porch when I was a little girl (4 or 5). Stew would get there very early and when it was warm enough my mom would hurry me out in my nightgown to hear the cow moo. Stew always had a big smile for us when he did that. Memories like that are special. May he rest in peace.

During WWII Clover Farms Dairy allowed my Mom to receive milk for her and my two older brothers, sometimes on the cuff since my Dad was serving in the United States Navy. The funds he sent home didn't always arrive in time to pay the milk delivery bill on Grand Street around the corner from the Leonard Dairy. This was never forgotten by my Mom. God's Speed Mr. Leonard.
