Stewart T. Forster

1932 - 2022

Stewart Thomas Forster, 89, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022. He was born on September 13, 1932 in Berwyn, Illinois. After graduation from Harvard High School in 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served from January 1952 until February 1982, retiring as a Master Chief Sonar Technician. Leaving the U.S. Navy, he was employed by the Washington Analytical Services Company, Inc. (WASCI), a division of EG&G, Inc. (now a part of USB, Inc.), as an Integrated Logistics Technician, until retired in 1995. He then volunteered at the Tidewater Council, BSA until 2014.

He is predeceased by his parents, Fredrick Forster and Martha Irene (Stewart) Forster, a sister, Carol Ann Forster and wife, Mary Jane (Engle) Forster, after forty nine years of marriage. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Edward Forster of Salt Lake City, Utah and Richard William Forster of Virginia Beach.

Stewart is an Eagle Scout (1950), Master Mason of the Dorchester Lodge AFM #369 of Dorchester, South Carolina and member of the Westminster Chapter 99, Order of the Eastern Star (and preciously to Ocean View Chapter #34 and Old Dominion Chapter #100) in Norfolk,, VA . He was an active member of at the Naval Air Station, Oceana Chapel, where he served as Sunday school teach and usher.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12pm, Monday, July 18, 2022 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation one hour prior at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.woodlawnnorfolk.com.
