Not sure what to say?

Those of us from Port Sulphur H.S. in the 1946-1950 era remember Coach Niles as a coach of Athletics and as a teacher of Science and other subjects. Though some of us felt dismayed by his move to 'arch-rival' Buras, he remained a concened and attentive friend and advisor to any who sought his counsel.

Dear Couch Niles' family: How sad this makes me as student and friend. I haven't seen any of you in years, but you are always in my young girls' memories. I was greatly influenced by Couch Niles as a Port Sulphur High teacher and a friend of Gladyes and her daughter, Diane. You are in my prayers. Ethel Mendoza Bailey

Our Sincere Sympathy and Prayers go out to the family of Mr. Niles.
He will surely be missed, but will remain in our memories forever as a wonderful person, principal and friend.

The Niles Family,
As one of the many who were touched by Mr. Niles, I just want to say I will always remember the many ways he helped us receive a good education. I am sure you all will miss him. My prayers are with you at this time. Class of 61 BHS Darlene Alesich Ferdinandtsen

I don't ever remember being afraid of Mr. Niles, even though he was bigger than life, but I had a great deal of respect for him and I think what I will always carry with me is that he taught us to have respect for ourselves and each other. What an honor to have had him as a Principal. To the Niles Family I say you have much to be proud of, our prayers and thoughts are with all of you and thanks for sharing him with all of us.

Mr. Niles was my school principal from kindergarten to high school graduation. I am sorry to hear of his passing but I will always remember him, in particular his strong voice.

I'd like to express my condolences to the family of Mr. Niles, who was my wonderful boss and good friend. As a young teacher on his faculty, Stewart taught me to respect our students and to strive for excellence in the classroom. Our friendship lasted through the years, and he and Gladys were always a most cordial couple to party with. I credit Stewart with having taught my three daughters to swim when he was managing the pool. They used that skill to teach others, and I once mentioned to...

Mr. Niles was one of my favorite friends. I will always remember and cherish the kindness and advice he gave me throughout the years. He is now in heaven with his beloved Gladys. God Bless Mr. and Mrs. Niles.
