Not sure what to say?

Joan,
It was with the greatest of sadness that Joe and I learned of Stuart's death. He was a delightful and gentle man who greatly enriched our knowledge of local history. His contribution in that area is a wonderful legacy. We also have fond memories of sitting at Gulstream with you and the Davises on a lovely winter day. Please take care and know that you are in our thoughts and pracyers. Please also accept my appology for delay in contacting you. We just last night returned from a three...

I'm so glad that I had a brief opportunity to know Stuart. His spiritedness, love of life and tremendous intellect radiated from him at all times. I found him tremendously inspirational and, as a fellow environmental advocate, I will certainly miss him. The Everglades has lost another one of its champions.

Stuart epitomized what the "gentle-man" should be. I shall always be able to see his kind face and hear his mellow voice. My love and thoughts are with you, Joan.

Dear Joan:
There are no words...only know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

There are no words to say how much we will all miss Stuart. He was a lovely man---intelligent, kind, witty, and always upbeat. And no one could tell a story as well as he did. I will cherish his memory always.

Stuart was one of the most delightful human beings I ever met, and it was my great good fortune to know him. He lived a long and productive life, doing what he wanted to do and doing it extremely well, and for that all of us who care deeply about him must be grateful. No one who knew Stuart will ever forget him.

Joan: What a loss. I always will consider Stuart a mentor.

Stuart was a person who viewed the world as a stage and loved every minute of it. My condolences to his family and many friends.
