Yes, it has been a year now since Stu left this Earth. I remember a visit just a few months before he passed away. Sitting in a wooden chair on the bare back porch, looking off to the Grand Teton not too far away. Stu knew. He knew his time was short. And he faced forward, looking into the distant sky, bravely, with his hands in his vest pockets. He had made his mark, a blessing for many of us who sat in the warmth of his shadow. Thank you Stu.

Stu was a special friend in many connections related to my own CPE experience (St Elizabeth's, SoCent Reg ACPE, CPE overseas, personal contact over many years!) May he rest in peace!

For nearly 35 years Stu has been my mentor and counselor and friend. As I reflect, no one on Earth knew me better than Stu did. His wisdom, his counsel, his friendly grin, and sometimes words of encouragement, all of these were his gifts to me. Stu was able to see the big picture of living and thoughtfully share his insight and perspective on the challenges of ministry these days. What an incredible human being. My life and the lives of so many richly blessed. I grieve deeply like so many others!

I am grateful for Stu in many ways. He invested in people and saw their potential even when others could not. The number of people who have been touched by his life is a testimony to the stature of his character. I wish his wife, family and others comfort in their grief, and celebration of his life. Larry
