Stuart LaVern Rada

Rada, Stuart LaVern, 81, of Rockville, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Sharp Rada; their children, Dana C. Rada,Mark V. Rada (Wendy) and Alexis R. Ragland (Donnie); two grandchildren, Samuel Lewis and Claire Amelia Rada; a brother Julian S. Rada (Mary Frances); two dear cousins, Hazel Dare Buhrman and Dr. Heath Rada; special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a faithful dog named Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry J. and Kate M. Rada; one brother, J. Glenn Rada; and a dear aunt and uncle, Grace Rada and Roger Mills. He was a lifelong member of Calvary Christian Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He had over 20 years of service with both the Henrico Police Department and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Department. He retired as an Investigator with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Department. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 22 from 5-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 23 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Christian Church, 14196 Ashland Road, Glen Allen, Virginia. Interment will follow in a family cemetery located at Retreat-Mt. Brilliant, his childhood home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
