Out of all book series that exist few have managed to peak my interests in the way that The Big One has, from its creativity to its humor, the series has had a profound impact on my life, and my interests. As we speak I am now re-reading "The Great Game" for about the 15th time, and it gets better every time I read it. Mr. Slade is sorely missed, and I wish good rest for a man that could envision a world that feels like an escape.

He was a fount of knowledge that never ceased to spring forth. Since first getting to know him over twenty years ago, he provided me with so much information on military history that I don't know where I'd be in that field without him. This was all too sudden.
