Not sure what to say?

Very saddened to hear of the passing of Subratada. We knew him well and he was a frequent visitor at our home in Corning. We pray for peace for the departed soul and hope that his family finds solace in the fact that he will be remembered as a good person by the many who knew him and who he helped.

Our heartfelt condolences to Li, Anando and Alok on the sad passing of Prof Subrata. We were saddened to hear this news. He was my advisor and an inspiring mentor through my Ph.D. and post-doc research at Cornell from 1976-1982. He was such a wonderful and warm human being, from whom I learnt a great deal, both academically and personally. He always shared his intellect and kindness. He was generous with his time particularly for his students. He had an immeasurable impact on me and my life....

I send my heartfelt condolences to Li, Anando and Alok and the entire family on Professor Mukherjee's passing. This is very sad news. I was a student in his group at Cornell in the early 80's and used to visit his house often. I used to call him Subratada. He was a very intellectually inspiring and kind-hearted mentor to me. I had stayed in touch with him since my Cornell days and always enjoyed his company when we met. He had stayed with us in our house a couple of times, and my wife Keya...

It was a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony. Thank you for letting us be part of it. Subrata left a big void. May he rest in peace. May the Mukherjee family find solace knowing that he is no longer suffering.

I found out from the Internet that Prof Mukherjee had graduated in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1967, one year after Pronob and I graduated. So, I contacted one IIT alum who lives in NJ and also graduated in 1967. He knew of Prof Subrata Mukherjee but did not know him personally. He told me that there is a big WhatsApp group of 1967 graduates (of all disciplines), and the death of Prof Mukherjee has been widely publicized within that group.

Our deepest condolences...

Please tell Li that we think of her and Subrata as we remember him from earlier days.

Maladi and Shankarda
