Sue Eakins passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The obituary was featured in The Advocate on September 20, 2009.
I was very fortunate to have taken history classes under Dr. Eakin at LSUA in 1965. She was a wonderful teacher and made learning an absolute pleasure. She poured her heart and soul into her teaching, and it showed. That's why I looked forward to her classes. Sorry to learn of her passing.

Dr Eakin was a wonderful woman and educator. Her LA History classes at LSUA were the highlight of my time there. She always encouraged family history research. She will be remembered lovingly by her many students. Our prayers go out to her family.
