Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home - Westchester Obituary

Susan “Sue” Alexander, 79, of Auburn, NY, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025. Born on October 4, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Sue later made Auburn her home, where she raised her family, became a grandma, and came to be a beloved member of the community.

Sue dedicated many years of service as a Secretary to the Deputy at Five Points and Cayuga Correctional Facility. One of her greatest joys during her time at Cayuga was organizing the annual bake sale, which raised money to ensure local children received holiday gifts. Her commitment to helping others continued even after retirement, as she remained active through the Cayuga County Action Program (CCAP), serving on the board and contributing her time and energy to charitable acts throughout the community.

Sue’s biggest source of pride was her family. She leaves behind her daughters, Delphina Aldama and her wife Marie Kahle; Kimberly Alexander and her fiancé Ernesto Arreguin; her son, Terrance Alexander Jr.; and her beloved grandsons, Terry Alexander III and his wife Andrea Alexander and Rocco Alexander (her Rockman), along with their mother, Christine Alexander. Sue remained close with her former husband, Terry Alexander Sr., and loved being a “doggie grandma” as well. She had many close friends and was dearly loved by many in Auburn who will always remember her bright smile and warm heart.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Angel Rodriguez and Soila Alegria Rodriguez, and her sister, Mary Hope Fielder. She is survived by her siblings, Virginia Arenas and Jose Angel Rodriguez, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

In her final year of life, Sue was a resident of St. Mary’s Home in Chicago, operated by the Little Sisters of the Poor. There, she deepened her faith, served as President of the Resident Board, and found joy in the friendships she made with the residents and staff who came to love her as much as she loved them.

It is very fitting that her services will be held at St. Mary’s Home on July 11th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a Mass and a celebration of her life. St. Mary's Home is located at 2325 N. Lakewood Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.

In Lieu of flowers please consider honoring Sue’s generous spirit with a donation to St. Mary’s Home, 2325 N. Lakewood Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.

Arrangements entrusted to Peter B. Kennedy & Co., Funeral Directors. Funeral Info: 708-562-5900.

Not sure what to say?

I worked with Susan at Cayuga Correctional Facility for many years. Always upbeat and positive. Rest in peace.

Del so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. My heart goes out to your family. I remember she trained me as a waitress at The Ground Round (39 years ago). She remained a good friend and always chatted up a storm when I ran into her. Again, so sorry, God Bless. MB

Sue was a great joy...always there for every occasion and always with a smile... she will be greatly missed. From our family to yours love the Malone family

I worked with Sue at Cayuga Correctional. I just loved her and loved how she loved her family.

I will miss times with Susan, just talking about life's goodness and sometimes its weirdness too. Rita and I send blessings to all family members, that you all find strength in the love you shared for Susan. May that love carry you through this time of grief and bring comfort in the days ahead..

A voice now silent That we miss In our thoughts and prayers From our lips Echoes of laughter That we shared Yesterday's haunting melodies Now taunt our memories Like our shadow That follows Wherever we go Though out of view Our hearts remind us of The Love We Knew Class Dignity a Lady always had a smile Sue , a descendant of an Alamo defender from her mother's side . Rest in peace in the Arms Of The Lord

It is with extreme sad sadness I am writing these words to honor the passing of Sue Alexander. I have known Sue for 25 years that I lived on Henry Dr. in Auburn, as her friend and neighbor. We shared many pleasant memories as we watched our children grew up. My love, prayers and condolences go out to her family and friends. She was a giving and blessed person. Rest In Peace Sue. You were loved and will be missed. With Love, Zan & Arnie Liebowitz. Florida.

may God have taken you into the palm of his hand

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
