Curran-Jones Funeral Home - West Springfield Obituary

Susan passed away peacefully at home, on Thanksgiving, surrounded by family. Sue is survived by her daughters, Caitlin Coffey and Meaghan Serafin, her son Sean Coffey, her grandchildren, Kailey and Liam Serafin, her sister Mary Fowler and her nieces and nephews, Melissa Quinn, Jennifer and Christopher Loiselle, Joshua Fowler and Sabrina Lamay, Dave Coffey, and brother-in-law, Steve Coffey. She is pre-deceased by her mother, Phyllis Hart, her husband Michael Coffey, her beloved brother David Hart and her sister Kathy Loiselle.

Sue led her life with an amazing amount of resilience and grace. Always the “multi-tasker”, she artfully tackled and succeeded in her 45+ year career in the Insurance Industry; mastered becoming an amazing  mom overnight to two step-children (even though she may have tried to eliminate them by waxing the wood stairs); lovingly mothered her sweet daughter Caitlin; effortlessly supported her husband during the many sales dinners, sales trips, golf outings and client dinners; a devoted friend who unselfishly attended plays, golf tournaments, trips to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hilton Head, Vermont & Florida, and suffered through glass after glass of Pinot Grigio; skillfully taught tens of girl scouts how to cross-stich, sew, knit and excel and grow into fine young women; highly skilled at curating craft days and day trips to entertain kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids; and finally, her unrestrained talent to turn a 5 minute phone conversation into a 3 hour call and a lifelong friendship.

Like all of us, Sue had her faults, but for some reason, she just wore them better than others. There is no pocket or season of life where Sue did not find a friend.

Sue lived true to the lyrics of one of her favorite songs.

“Makin' my connection as I enter the room
Everybody's chillin' as I set up the groove

Pumpin' up the volume with this brand new beat
Everybody's dancin' and they’re dancin' for me
I'm your operator, you can call anytime
I'll be your connection to the party line

I'm comin' up so you better get this party started”

Pink, Get This Party Started

Calling hours are Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 from 9:30 - 11am at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, followed by a  Funeral Home Service at 11. The burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.curranjones.com

Not sure what to say?

We are so sad to learn about the loss of Sue!?!? Obviously, we had no idea. Caitlin, we're so sorry. Sue loved and adored you!!! Our Christmas card was returned and I searched for information and was shocked to find her beautiful obituary. Sue was such a delight to be around. She was always smiling and offering a helping hand! Heaven definitely gained an angel. She and Mike are reunited. Sue has earned her eternal reward. Our prayers will be for the lovely family she has left behind. May you...

We were so sorry to hear of your loss of Sue. My husband and I knew her for many years. She loved life and enjoyed everyone. She will be missed.

I was quite surprised to learn of Sue´s passing. I first met Sue at Crestview Country Club. Later at Springfield Country Club where we also got to know Mike. Very nice, fun people. So sorry for your loss Sue will be missed. I will pray for her and her soul. God Bless you all.

Enjoyed many years playing golf with Sue at Springfield Country Club. Had many laughs and cocktails in the tavern. Sue threw a great party too! She will be missed. Very sorry for your loss. Mike is singing to her right now

Sue was an awesome woman and a great friend. I loved Sue from the very first time we met. She was always welcoming and generous. Truly genuine. Always ready to laugh no matter what obstacles she currently faced.
There were many fun times together with our family and hers in Maine and at St Patrick's Day parties.
I looked forward to our dinner dates when we would finally find a time to get together and catch up on the months we were apart.
I will truly miss her.

I AM SADDEN TO LEARN ABOUT THE LOSS OF SUCH A SWEET FORMER CLASSMATE. SOME ARE SO SPECIAL AS THEY REMAIN IN YOUR MEMORY YEARS LATER AND SUSAN WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. MAY SHE REST PEACEFULLY IN THE ARMS OF HER BELOVED HUSBAND AND MAY HER MEMORY BE ETERNAL.

Susan was Sweet and had a Big warm heart. I treasure the picture I have of us in grade school for Christmas Around the World. She as a ballerina and I was from Mexico. She was always kind and wore a big smile she will be missed.

Rest in peace Sue. We had a lot of fun through the years on and off the golf course. Lots of golf tournaments and dinners out with Mike and Will. You will be missed.

A loss for earth but a Great gain in Heaven! Rest in peace my friend!
