LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Susan Frances Fortune, 60, will be held at 1 pm Friday, November 24, 2006 at Brookland United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Robert T. Cannon and Rev Carol R. Cannon. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 pm at the church, prior to the service. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brookland UMC, 541 Meeting St, W. Columbia, SC 29169 or Little River Baptist Church, 343 Little River Church Rd, Jenkinsville, SC 29065.

Ms. Fortune died Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Born in Richland County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Francis and Marian Guice Fortune. Ms. Fortune was a longtime member of Little River Baptist Church where she was the organist for many years. After transferring her membership to Brookland United Methodist Church where she was the former organist and was still active as a substitute, a choir member and in the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. Ms. Fortune was a graduate of Anderson Jr. College and a former stewardess with TWA prior to her State Government employment, which included USC School of Medicine, Education Institute & Policy Council, and Dept. of Juvenile Justice where she was currently employed with the Rehabilitative Services Division.

Surviving are her aunt, Betsy Guice of Little Mountain and numerous cousins.
