I'm so very sorry. She was a special woman, and her family must miss her terribly.

I am so sorry to see that Dr Hou has passed. She was an attending nephrologist when I was training at Rush. I remember her kindness to all patients to a fault. I remember that a patient was signing out AMA to pick up a check. She offered this patient her own money to stay in the hospital. This was the type of doctor she was. Caring, compassionate and an outstanding nephrologist. She influenced the way I practice medicine.

Beautiful,sweet,and so caring!She gave us her home phone number to call her organisations!We only talked to Doctor Hue twice and saw her once at Loyola,but that woman has been on my mind since the first time we spent some time with her,and then she personally called us at home!What a beautiful soul!We miss you,and we will always remember you!Our love & hugs to your family!

I'm not sure I can add much to the platitudes others have shared regarding Dr. Hou.

As her transplant patient for many years, she was an amazing and talented physician during difficult times, both physically and emotionally for me.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hou for over 20 years and she made a tremendous impact on my life by convincing me to get a kidney transplant. Her calm demeanor was the voice of reason for me at at a time in my life that I felt hopeless. She was truly a miracle from heaven in the way she treated me over the years and she had this uncanny ability of making me feel as though I was her favorite patient. She was a wonderdul doctor, she always had such a comforting smile, my sister and I always felt at ease when we would come in for clinic visits. I had last seen her at the Candlelight Ceremony for Transplant recipients, and was greeted with that smile. She will be greatly missed, my deepest sympathies.

If heaven ever held a special place for someone it surely does for Dr. Hou. She was truly inspirational, unflinchingly honest, and extraordinarily courageous. She taught me to fix anything I can and to do what I know is right, regardless of who the opposition is. She gave me comfort, confidence, and hope, and achieved this all in the brief minutes we spent together in medical appointments.
She has undoubtedly changed my life for the better, and I am just one of the countless many. ...
