Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Hugery, Susan, passed away, Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Beloved wife of John Hugery; devoted mother of Sara Hugery and Jared Hugery; cherished grandmother of Antoni Szarejko; dear sister of Marcie (Brian) Bradshaw and David (Elisa) Thelen; aunt, cousin and friend to many. Beloved fur momma to Coco, Crash, Gigi and Binx.

When you think of the courage it takes to embark on any adventure we often think of the courage needed to travel to foreign lands, sail the seven seas, or to summit the tallest mountains but what’s less often spoken of is the courage to choose to live a life of love, every day, without falter. This was the path my mother/Susan blazed. No matter what she personally held in her heart she strove to go above and beyond for anyone she could touch. From her meticulous and intricate quilts, to dangerously addictive cookies, to saving at least 100 dogs from euthanasia, and loving all children as her own, her happiness was deeply ingrained in giving the gift of joy. Her legacy of light was not to wait until it is asked of, but to show up now for people in any way you can, because you are never guaranteed tomorrow.

Not sure what to say?

My favorite lunch lady in highschool. She was always kind and loving, and treated every kid as her own. She was my favorite part of my day.
