Not sure what to say?

Susan was the best roommate ever--always kind and thoughtful

Susan was such a good room mate— so sweet and kind and easy to get along with❤

Susan and I had lost touch after freshman college year where she was the best roomie ever. Came to Smith Mountain Lake from Kentucky for a short vacation and was hopeful of reconnecting with Susan. So sad to find that she had passed a decade ago. Life gets so busy with kids and grand kids that we often loose touch with one another. Then when we are older and have more time sadly it is sometimes too late.

I want to express my sincere condolences to all of Susan's dear family members, many of whom are very special to me. We live in faith that the righteous will be rewarded. I wish I could have been there for the memorial event, though obligations kept me away. You were in my thoughts, as you remain still. My sincerest regards.

Whitney, So sorry to here of the loss of your Mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Susan was my son's second grade teacher,he is now in eighth grade. She was an amazing person and teacher.I always knew she was looking out for my son and doing what was best for him. She had such enthusiasm for life and teaching.I am so grateful for her and all she did for my son! Every child should have a teacher like Mrs.Kern! Your family will be in my prayers.

Wally, Whitney, Hunter and Marli,
David and I are thinking of you all. I am thankful that your Mom is in a better place but, sad for you as you deal with this loss.
Love and prayers,

Westmont, Il.

Just returned home from an extended holiday to learn of your Mom's passing.
She was a dear friend and we will always remember the many wonderful things that Susan did for her community, her friends, and her students. We are left without the real proper things to say and so because we cannot understand the taking of such an accomplished individual, Mary Louise and I pass our deepest condolences to the children and all members of the family who shared Susan's life. Every time we attend...

Wally, Marli, Whitney and Hunter, I am so sad that Susan did not win her battle with cancer, but so glad we had Thanksgiving dinner together. That was special as your loved one was special and will always be to you and others. I can only be thankful that the suffering is over for Susan. Love to all of you. Nana
