Not sure what to say?

Now I know why Susan has been on my mind this week--we lost her just a year ago. I met Susan first as a teacher at Einstein High School. She was committed to raising the front-line educator's voice in policy-making to assure that students thrived. She worked side by side with me when I was the union president, being one of the first leaders of the Councils on Teaching and Learning. But more than that, she was my friend and great supporter in my campaign to be elected to the MD House of...

I had Ms. Loftus as my elementary school PE teacher over 15 years ago. Because of her, I would tell everyone that PE was my favorite subject. I still remember her bright energy and colorful outfits, and the inventive games she came up with (given that the school didn't have an actual gym at the time). At the time I was a quiet, quirky kid, and appreciated how she made everyone feel welcome.

I only knew Susan through her love and care for her Dad Gerry Loftus. Her dedication to him illustrated her dedication to family. I'm sure a Choir of Angels greeted her and sped her into Paradise!

Everything Susan did, she did with complete passion and excitement. She loved her teams (I first got to know her when I was working for the Maryland Women's Basketball program) and traveled the country to see them play. She was a dedicated "Rebounder" with the Maryland program (team fan group). But she was also passionate at work and a strong advocate for Physical Education and Health curriculum. She worked hard to advocate for teachers both with the union and in the community and campaigned...

I had the pleasure of knowing Susan during the years I was principal at Burning Tree, and the benefit of her wisdom as she worked on the school's leadership team. We all loved Susan, not only for the way she built the students' confidence, but also for her many accomplishments and contributions to the school's spirit and positive climate. Her memory is a blessing. My deepest condolences to Terrie and the rest of Susan's family.

I worked with Susan over the years with MCEA. She was a strong, dedicated person, and I will miss her enormously as will so many others she has touched.

Susan was a wonderful person who truly cared for all her students and fellow staff members. She was one of a kind

I had the pleasure of meeting Susan at Maryland sporting events. Her passion and smile were infectious. And after getting to know here , a hug. She introduced me to her father Gerry and to Terrie too. I will miss you , teach.
