Susan "Sue" Lovell passed away October 7, 2018 after a brief battle with pneumonia that culminated recent years of serious health challenges. Sue will be remembered most for her love of adventure, great sense of humor, and contagious, hearty laugh. Born and raised in the Detroit area, Sue was a devoted daughter and determined in her role as big sister; both protective and challenging. Her nieces share joyful memories from her visits to Michigan while they were growing up: laughter, manicures, big hugs, and her signature fragrance, Tresor. Adolescent escapades were shared with a neighborhood cohort, the 4 Sues. While later memories of boundless dancing with dear friends to a favorite of Prince, "Let's Get Crazy", are added testimony to Sue's vibrant personality and fighting spirit during the greater part of her life. Sue was a pioneer and one of the first women to hold senior positions in data processing in the financial services industry. She was a part of the team that implemented the first network of airport ATMs for the country's largest New York bank at the time. Sue later joined Core Group, a Minneapolis firm, where she was Vice President of Data Processing and MIS and a key part of the team that designed and implemented the earliest marketing programs that are ubiquitous today, such as frequent flyer, credit card and retail loyalty programs. Sue was a mentor to young professional women throughout her career. Later years in her chosen home state of Minnesota brought an opportunity to expand her compassion for others as a loving companion of the elderly. Sue was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Bruce Jones, a proud army veteran and native Minnesotan. Together, they enjoyed many years of laughter and adventure, including with Bruce's children and grandchildren. In addition to her human friends and family, Sue had many feline companions over the years, and she loved them all dearly. Sue is also preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ann Nagel. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Nagel (Paul) Whitworth, nieces Kirstin (Sarah) Leiby, and Jenna Leiby, and their children Soliana and Cameron, as well as by the family she shared with Bruce, including Doug Jones (Sarah), Sean (Janine), Mat (Elyse), Tim (Barbara), Katie (Borys), Kevin, Rebecca, Nathan, Noah, Anika, Ty, Reilly, Eli, Kaily, George, Joseph, and Lucy. She will also be missed by dear cousins and friends. Not sure what to say?

So, so sorry to hear of Sue's passing. I always enjoyed working with Sue. Her laugh was just the BEST!! She was a real character and we had so many good times at the office. She was for sure a bright spot in the workday. I remember her fondly.

I will always cherish the times we had together as friends and co-workers. Her spirit was wonderful and I cannot tell you how many lovely and hilarious times we all had together. My son even remembers a night when I was underneath the coffee table laughing with Sue as we drank WAY too much box wine together. I will remember the love she had for her kitties, her lovely townhome she enjoyed so much, and her incredible sense of humor. I will miss Sue tremendously and still have a voice message...

Sue was always a strong, vibrant personality around the office. She cared intensely about people and was always first to support people when they needed it. She was responsible for a number of firsts for Core Group in terms of data-driven fulfillment projects a critical role for the organization. But it is her personality and sense of humor I will remember the most.

I love reading your stories about Aunt Sue because I learn new things but also because the way you experienced her is so consistent with the way I experienced her! I am so grateful to all of you for being good friends and colleagues to her. We will keep her spirit alive. I will find her in warm, cozy parties with lots of chatter and in the air on a crisp, sunny winter day. I will find her in the excitement of boarding an airplane for a trip and in the hustle of a busy city. I will find her in...

I met Sue when she started dating Bruce Jones. She
enjoyed being with Bruce, kids and grandkids. She had a
a big laugh and it was infectious. May she Rest In Peace

We are saddened by Sue's passing and are truly sorry for your loss. We were friends with Bruce and Sue for over 25 years and had so many fun times and fond memories. Sue had a sharp wit, a quick tongue and enjoyed partying. She also had a big heart and loved all the kids and grandkids in her extended family and she truly had fun shopping for them - especially with Bruce's money. May she rest in peace - we know you will miss her as we will, but the memories linger on.

Sue was a dear friend over many years and a wonderful asset to our company, Core Group Marketing. She had an infectious smile, great sense of humor ....and was ready to help any team member when ever asked . Her data management skills and ability to organize, present complicated qualitative outcomes as part of our client presentations were invaluable. Sue was fun to work with and never lost her enthusiasm for her friendships, her work , or her unique ability to lift us all up when we were...

OH how I miss Sue Lovell! I am a former co worker at Core Group Marketing. I later moved to Virginia in 2000. We talked a few summers ago and we got caught up on each of our changed lives. Sadly I have a Christmas card that was returned, and I did not figure out how to get it to her. Regrets. We were both from Michigan and traded laughs about duo tangs (no one else knew what we were talking about). But yes I remember that laugh! I am reading Colleen's tribute below and I echo all of that....

I met Sue while she was working for Diners Club in Chicago when I was a consultant to that company. I later convinced Sue to move to Minneapolis and join Core Group and not only was that the beginning of a long professional journey that we took together, it was the beginning of a long friendship as well. Sue was a fierce friend but not always an easy one. As Albus Dumbledore said, It takes a good deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies but just as much to stand up to our friends. When...
