HILDEBRAND - RUSS FUNERAL HOME - Rhinelander Obituary

Susan Eilee Witter Medick

November 20, 1946 ~ July 29, 2025

Age ~ 78

Susan Eileen Medick, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at Friendly Village in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

Born on November 20, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, Sue was the beloved daughter of Glenn and Gwendolyn Witter. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Medick, and together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Sue was the perfect co-pilot on every road trip, never leaving home without her trucker’s atlas. In June 1997, Ken and Sue moved to Three Lakes, Wisconsin, where they embraced the beauty of the Northwoods and enjoyed some of the best years of their lives.

Sue was a devoted mother to Kelly and Michael (Teena), and a proud, loving grandmother to Peyton (Aaron) Christensen, Christian (Kloe) Medick, and Kenzie Medick. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her grandchildren. Whether cheering from the stands, applauding in an auditorium, or supporting a passion project, she was always their biggest fan. Sue never missed an opportunity to babysit, help with Halloween costumes, go shopping, or fall asleep beside them during a movie.

Known for her compassionate heart, sharp wit, unwavering loyalty, and loving spirit, Sue was a devoted wife, mother, Gramma, sister, aunt, and friend. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, fishing, visiting casinos, and long scenic drives. A lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, one of the highlights of her life was watching her beloved Cubs win the 2016 World Series.

For more than six years, Sue was lovingly cared for by the remarkable staff at Friendly Village Nursing Home. The Medick family is deeply grateful for their kindness, laughter, and friendship. They treated Sue not just as a resident, but as one of their own.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue’s honor to Peyton’s Promise or to Team Suzie Q for the Alzheimer’s Walk on September 20th in Rhinelander, WI, two causes that were especially close to Sue and her family’s hearts.

Not sure what to say?

Sue was a beautiful person. We became friend with the Medick family, as she was best friends with my sister Shar. Had the pleasure of being friends with Sue & Ken, while watching their awesome kids grow up. You are in God's hands now so rest in peace!

The family has lost a wonderful person. She will be missed.

Kelly & Kenzie, I hope you’re finding some comfort in the memories you shared. I pray that God brings you peace and comfort in this difficult time. May you feel His presence close and be surrounded by love and support. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you navigate this new normal! What a beautiful tribute to your wife, mother, grandmother and friend!

Sue will be sorely missed. She was just wonderful. I wish the Medick family warmth, peace, and love during this time.
