O'Brien Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services - South Hadley Obituary

Susan M. Mello 59, passed away on June 24, 2024 surrounded by her family. Susan put up a courageous battle against ovarian cancer.  She had a positive attitude throughout this brief ordeal, but the cancer was just too powerful.

Susan was the daughter of (predeceased) Edward and Marjorie (Fitzgerald) she is survived by her sisters, Marianne (Irving) Netkovick, Margaret (Tim) Greaney and Sharon (Patrick) Reis along with her two brothers, Edward (Debora) Mello and James (Lori) Mello.  Sue was (predeceased) by her niece Melinda Greaney, she is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who she loved very much. Tim Netkovick (Kate), Sonny Mello, Kim Fulks (Kyle), Nate Mello (Rebecca) Michael Netkovick (Kristin), Angela Gaspar (Jameson), Bryan Mello (Ashley), Tiffany Greaney, Scott Netkovick (Amanda), Sarah Mattey, Jay Mello (Ashley), Cassandra Reis, and Julia Reis.  She reveled in their accomplishments, she hurt with their sorrows, and she felt sheer joy and delight in spending time with them.  At the mere mention of their names, Sue’s eyes would shine, and her smile would grow bigger.

Sue was an avid reader, and she loved her purses. She visited Martha’s Vineyard every year where she would eat her blueberry banana pancakes at The Blackdog Tavern and loved riding up to the Cliffs in Aquinnah.

Sue graduated from South Hadley High School and received her degree from Northeastern University. She worked as a Paralegal for Hendel & and Collins, P.C. in Springfield for more than 20 years and at Gelinas & Lefebvre, P.C. in Chicopee. She has many close friends and will miss them very much.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Susie’s smile and sparkling eyes are what I see in each memory of her! I know you all will share so many joy filled memories of times spent with her. May they lift you through the sadness and lighten your hearts. The Mello family was an amazing addition to a very special neighborhood. You are all in my prayers as you move through this difficult time.

To the Mello family: Chrissy, Michael and I are so saddened to hear of Sue’s passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
