Not sure what to say?

Susan was instrumental in the connection between my family and L'Arche over the past thirty or so years. We first met Sister Susan in the 1990s when we searching for a living situation for my brother Dean Willett . We got involved with L'Arche and the building of Neahkanie House. When Neahkanie opened, Dean moved into Nehalem House. He was loving and much loved member of the L'Arche community until his death in 2000. Over the years, we have remained part of the extended community. My niece,...

Susan was my daughter Kelly’s first grade teacher at Our Lady of the Lake. She moved on the next year and we didn’t see each other until our paths crossed in a Healing Touch workshop in 2010. We volunteered together at St Andre Bessette’s healing touch hospitality over the last few years. She is a gentle, caring person that brings peace and light into others’ lives. Her memory lives on in all those who knew her.

When my husband needed a kidney transplant, Susan offered hers. That was the kind of person she was. It turned out she was not a good match but we were deeply touched by this generous offer.

I got to know Susan at our last 'in person' snjm Chapter. One trait I noticed right away was her amazing attentive presence when you spoke to her. Every person who has had a conversation with her will know what I mean. The depth of her sharings is another trait I appreciated and would cherish her insights. Will miss you Susan! April 14 14,2021

Susan Mitchell was a treasured member of our community, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. We shared a profound retreat together in Oregon. I will always remember her compassionate and understanding personality.

Susan was an incredible gift to the Larche community in Portland. We were so fortunate to have her as our ‘guide’ as we navigated a transition for our Erin to Larche. We are saddened at her passing. We know she is with the angels in heaven. Our condolences to her family and friends.

Susan was treasured by our Seattle L'Arche community, and the broader family of L'Arche in our region. She was a light to us, and we treasure her gifts and her memory.

I lived across the street from the L’Arche Nehalem house and found Sister Susan to be an incredibly committed leader to the L’Arche movement. She was dedicated to the residents of the home and spoke of them as if they were family. She inspired me to become more involved with our community. Thank you for all you did for others!
