Susan E. Petterson, 63, of Olmsted Township passed away tragically Sunday, June 25, 2023.
Sue was born Tuesday, March 22, 1960 in Cleveland, the first daughter of the late Norman and Mary (née Grove) Petterson of Cleveland.
At the time of her passing, Sue was a cashier, though her career included computer programming and IT support roles across several companies. A devoted partner and mother, Sue’s family and close friends meant everything to her. Nothing was more important to her than caring for her loved ones, whether through her thoughtful conversations, acts of kindness, hospitality, or feeding people the delicious food she made that ranged from simple vegetarian dishes to elaborate creations like crown roast. Sue’s passions included cooking, baking, caring for her pets Lake and the late Libby, and connecting with nature.
Surviving is her partner of 20 years, Daniel Chelednik; her child, Julianne Petterson Smith (Steven Lane) of Columbus; brother, Norman Petterson Jr. (Barbara) of Kirtland Hills; sisters, Karen Irizarry (Rudolfo) of Cleveland, Margaret Chelednik (Edward) of Alabama, and Kathryn Fjeld of Massachusetts; sisters-in-law, Karen Harvey (Frank Petrillo) of Florida, Michelle Chlad (William Douglas) of Florida, and Robbin Hilbert (Greg) of Alabama; brother-in-law, Edwin Heyduk Jr, and Dan’s children Julie O’Toole (Thomas) of Wisconsin, and Jeffrey Chelednik (Jenny Davis) of Columbia Station. Also surviving is Lake, Sue and Dan’s 8-year-old terrier mix who Sue cared for just after he was born; Sue’s nieces Angela Irizarry-Gannon (Vance) of Florida, Jessica Heyduk (Shaun Yarmesch) of Florida, Sadie Fjeld of Massachusetts, and Rebecca Bunnell (Adam) of Elyria; nephews Edwin Heyduk III of Alabama, Rudolfo Irizarry of Cleveland, Thomas Chelednik of Alabama, and Jackson Fjeld of Massachusetts; and great-nephews, Vance Gannon Jr, Cameron and Connor Yarmesch, and Edwin Heyduk IV (Mandie). She was like a grandma to Tabitha, Thomas, and Madison O’Toole, and Jeffery Chelednik. Sue was a very special person to many additional people including Dan's great-nephews Jaxson and Grayson Bunnell; and life-long friend Debbie Price of North Olmsted.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Chambers Funeral Home of North Olmsted (29150 Lorain Rd).
