Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

Died peacefully in the company of loved ones on April 28 at the age of 68 after a brief bout with liver cancer. Born in Milwaukee in 1956, she graduated from Nicolet High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Macalester University in Saint Paul, MN and then completed medical school at Vanderbilt University.

After becoming board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, she practiced for many years at Aurora Sinai Medical Center as an OBGYN. She later worked in Women’s Health at Planned Parenthood before recently retiring. Her contribution to the healthcare of the women of Milwaukee will not be forgotten.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Claire Pfleger, as well as her daughter Jennifer Geren. She is survived by her son Graham Geren and her daughter Allie Witek and their father, Tom Geren. Also surviving is her son-in-law Andy Witek and grandsons, Gaius and Jay. Susan was sister to Bruce Pfleger, sister-in-law to Patricia O’Connell, aunt to William and Erin Pfleger, and the partner of Joe Porubcan.

Susan loved to travel and spent much of the summer up north at the family cabin with her beloved goldendoodles. She had a lifelong love for horses and found joy in riding whenever she could. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, solving puzzles of all kinds, watercolor painting and her adventurous spirit knew no bounds.

A private memorial service has been held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Planned Parenthood, https://www.plannedparenthood.org/get-involved/other-ways-give or the National Audubon Society, https://www.audubon.org/ways-to-give

Not sure what to say?

I went to an event for Parent Parenthood tonight and they dedicated the evening to Dr. Susan Pfleger! I was saddened to hear she had passed away. My prayers to the family. She was my doctor for many years and was the best there was. So sweet and beautiful soul, she also delivered 3 of my babies who went to school with her children!❤❤

My deepest sympathy to Allie and Graham. Your mother’s life and memory are truly a blessing to all of the patients she cared for, to the residents she taught, and to those who cared about her. She was a free spirit as well as a true believer in reproductive justice, and a talented physician. I wish both of you peace during these difficult times.

Sending my deepest condolences. Dr Pfleger was my doctor for many years until she left Aurora. She will be missed.

It was my pleasure to work with Sue over a number of years. She certainly is a loss to the whole Milwaukee community!

I had the privilege to work with Dr Pfleger. An amazing doctor, amazing person, with a good sense of humor. I remembered once she asked me to help her son with Spanish homework. Lovely person, my condolences to the family. Hope find peace.

Sue was a good friend. I knew her since she was a resident at Sinai. Jeanie was the perinatal social worker at Sinai and knew her from her many referrals. I was shocked and very sad to hear of her passing. I regret not getting together with her in the past few years. Our sincere condolences on your loss.

Doc was an excellent teacher and I learned a lot working for her she was a very down to earth person. She will be missed

Suzie was a good friend of mine when we lived in Fox Point, Wisconsin and attended Nicolet High School. I loved her very much. We went on long walks with our dogs, had deep conversations in English, and 'secret' conversations in French. I respected her intelligence, humor, and caring nature. Rest in peace.

Dr. Pfleger was my GYN at Mt. Sinai for many years. She was so kind and gentle. I looked forward to my appointments with her. We always had interesting conversations. I will remember her fondly.
