Susan J. Rasmussen

Susan was a colleague of more than a decade in our department at UH. Always smiles, she was supportive and helpful in so many ways. And she was a great scholar. I will treasure her memory.

I only recently got to know Susan through joining her department at UH. She seemed like such an attentive, thoughtful scholar and was very kind to me in our albeit limit interactions. My students who had classes with her always spoke fondly of her and were disappointed when they learned of her retirement. I'm very grateful to have gotten to meet her.

I read this notice with profound sadness. Professor Rasmussen introduced me to Anthropology at UH many years ago and she was my favorite professor. I took several of her classes and thoroughly enjoyed them all, and I spoke highly of her with all my friends and family. She is such a treasure and will be greatly missed.
