What a dear, beloved friend was Sue! I met her in 1976, when I went to a meeting of Kansas City NOW. Sue and I both served as president of the Kansas City chapter. We had many exciting times together, staging rallies, visiting politicians, attending NOW conventions. We both served as president of the Kansas City chapter at different times. Perhaps the most fun activity was a "milk-in" at Hooters, when several NOW members entered and ordered milk.

Sue and I, with our husbands, attended a cancer support group together. We socialized often, at both homes. Last November, Tim, Sue, and I attended an exhibit at WWI memorial, where we celebrated Sue's birthday with a lunch.

Sue was indefatigable, unflappable, creative, and lovable. She adored her family. And Tim is such a good friend, giving guests candy, always hospitable.

I have a hole in my heart now. I sympathize with the Scholl family in grief. The funeral was beautiful and comforting.

Sue was someone whose path I crossed through causes and friends we had in common. She was a remarkable person who worked to make the world a better place in large and small ways. She was a capable and inspirational leader. She was also a person who paid attention to the small things like picking up trash when she took walks. She will be deeply missed. My sympathy to her family and the many other people who loved her.

Although it had been quite some time since I last saw Aunt Susan, never will I forget that she was a person who passionately devoted herself to what she believed in. All of us should take inspiration in her. I extend my deepest condolences and prayers to all who feel her loss. May she find great joy and fullness in her reunion with the Divine.

Sincerely,
Matthew Kelly - nephew
