The Reverend Susan will ALWAYS have a place in my heart and mind, as a role model of pastoral presence, among the first women to be ordained to the Episcopal priesthood, and who was such a powerful and loving pastor and friend.

Susan lifted me up during the darkest days of my life as a young wife and mother nearly 30 years ago. I had lost my own mother and brother only a month apart and was facing a terminal illness, myself. The comfort she provided, her spirit, love and wisdom delivered and restored me. Susan was the most amazing woman, spiritual leader, healer and shining light. I had the privilege to work closely with Susan when she came to St. David's church. Susan radiated love to all people. I am very saddened by her passing, and send my sympathy to all of the family and friends.

The Reverend Susan Tobias was a ground-breaking role model and guiding light for women during her ministry as Associate Priest from 1988-1991 at St. James-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla, California. Her legacy lives on.
