Not sure what to say?

Mr. Van Wormer, Steve, Sara, Emily and family,
I was deeply saddened to learn about Mrs. Van Wormer's passing. I have so many great memories from my childhood at your home in Grand Blanc. The Van Wormer household was a gathering place and a special place to me where freedom, fun and creativity ruled. She created that environment. She was always, always kind to me and I truly appreciate that. I don't ever recall a time when Mrs. Van Wormer was not working on an art or craft project (I...

Jim and family, we were saddened to hear of Susan's passing. Please know that your thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of sadness. In reading some of the condolence letters I am struck by the impact Susan had on the lives of young people.....the real reason we went into this 'business' in the first place. She clearly accomplished a great deal in moving young people into a rewarding and productive future. Keith and Anne Baldwin

We were saddened to hear of Susan's death. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We moved from Grand Blanc to Atlanta Georgia in 1981. Sara and Melissa were classmates and neighborhood friends.

My thoughts and prayers have been with all of Susan's family during this very difficult week. John and I are deeply distressed that we could not be with you at this time. Ace you have been truly remarkable in the care you gave Susan the last few years. Thanks for bringing her to see us this fall. For Steve, Sarah and Emily I know your memories of a truly great mother will get you through this time. To Walt I cannot relate to losing a sibling - the fun of growing up with a sister and mother...

I never read the obituaries but was looking for a particular one and was deeply saddened when I read that Mrs. Vanwormer, one of my very favorite teachers passed.

My deepest sympathies go out to her family as I know she will be greatly missed.

I remember transferring to her school in the middle of the year as a shy and frightened 3rd grader - she took me in and made me feel not only comfortable but special. I think of her often as I am a teacher now and hope that my...

"Mrs. VanWormer" (that's all I would ever dream of calling her!) was my third grade teacher at Brendel Elementary. She is one of the reasons that I am a teacher, in my 4th year of teaching.
I now teach third grade, and the number of times that I think of her in any given day cannot be counted. You tend to remember silly things when you're in third grade...
I remember when she took us to Crossroads Village and we got ice cream. We were all amazed that she could bite right into...

Dear Jim and family:
We were saddened beyond words to hear about your loss. The devotion of this family was inspiring as was Susan's courage and tenacity in the face of illness. She was one of Grand Blanc's legendary teachers and a superb colleague-and a great back door neighbor in Williamsburg Farms for many years-I loved having her come to my garage sales-she always purchased something artistic. We'll savor wonderful memories of this extraordinary woman,

My mom was a wonderful person. She was always there for me no matter what! As a grandmother, she loved Logan, Lucas, and Sydney more than words can express. My father took wonderful care of her, and no matter how she was feeling, she always put the kids first. Her teaching will carry on with me. My classroom is filled with so many books that she has given me as well as the drive to be the best teacher I can be every day. My mother taught me the importance of being a creative and caring...
