Susie Elkind

To Susie's family,

I am thinking of and celebrating Susie on her birthday today.

Susie and I met when we both worked for Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz in the fall of 1978. We soon discovered we shared the same birth year and birth month - April 1949 - and were born just a week apart. That was the beginning of a friendship, mostly long distance, that lasted until her passing. Susie invited me for tea and a garden walk just a few months before she got sick and we had a very sweet visit. We talked about plants, of course, dancing (she-tap, me-salsa), cooking (what appetizer to make for Thanksgiving. She gave me the recipe for 'wild mushrooms in puff-pastry thing-y). She put together her life so that she was sure to have time to do the things that gave her pleasure and to give back to her family and friends How lovely is that? Hugs to you all, Michal

Although I did not have the opportunity to meet Susie, I heard wonderful things about from Toni Crotty. She will be truly missed by the community and her friends who loved her so much. Louise Ray
